Whether you are drawn to microbes or the molecules that make them tick, there is a place for you here. We pursue curiosity-driven research at the interface of physical chemistry, biophysics, and microbiology — and we care as much about how we work as about what we find.

What you'll do

You will build chemical probes and push microscopes past their limits — super-resolution, single-molecule spectroscopy, holography, cryo-ET — to ask quantitative questions about how cells organize their chemistry. We look for rigorous, curious scientists who want to get past pretty pictures to the mechanisms underneath, from biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, microbiology, synthetic biology, chemistry, or computation.

Our trainees are competitive for major fellowships, including the Margaret Strauss Kramer and Margaret & Herman Sokol Fellowships, the NIH Chemistry–Biology Interface T32, and Dean's Undergraduate Research Funds.

Postdoctoral scholars

We are always glad to hear from motivated postdocs with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, microbiology, synthetic biology, computer science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field. Email Saumya with your CV and a cover letter describing your past research and future goals.
